Kris Withrow

Kris Withrow advises top technology and life sciences clients on mergers and acquisitions and strategic transactions. Over the course of his career, Kris has completed more than 400 domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, totaling over $76 billion in aggregate deal value. In addition to his transactional work, Kris counsels venture capital-backed and startup companies on corporate governance and operational matters. He previously co-chaired Fenwick’s M&A practice.
Kris is widely recognized for his leadership in M&A. He was named Dealmaker of the Year and Technology, Media & Telecom Dealmaker of the Year by The Deal, and has been honored as a Top 50 Dealmaker in North America by Global M&A Network. Chambers USA has recognized him as a top corporate and M&A lawyer in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, and The Legal 500 has named him a “Leading Lawyer” for middle-market M&A. He was also selected as one of the Daily Journal’s Top 20 Attorneys in California under 40 and ranked among the top ten Mid Cap M&A lawyers in North America by MergerLinks in 2021.
Kris is a member of the State Bar of California. He earned his B.A. in History with a minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996, where he was a four-year member of the Undergraduate Students’ Honor Society. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2001, where he served as Associate Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.
