Tamara Michael is an attorney, community advocate, and strategic leader committed to building stronger institutions and creating opportunities for communities to thrive. She serves as Corporate Counsel for Penguin Solutions, Inc., where her practice spans data privacy, commercial contracts, and labor and employment law.
Tamara is a Past President of the California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL), having led the statewide organization during its 2025–2026 term. During her presidency, she championed greater diversity within the legal profession and judiciary, legislative advocacy, community legal education, and initiatives designed to strengthen the pipeline of Black attorneys and future leaders.
She also serves as Director of Strategic Partnerships for Oaxxanda, a community-based organization advancing education, youth development, agriculture, environmental stewardship, wellness, and community connection. In this role, Tamara focuses on cultivating partnerships, developing resources, and connecting organizations and people to expand Oaxxanda’s impact in Oakland.
A member of the Tracy Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Tamara has served as Chair of Educational Development and Youth Programming, leading initiatives focused on academic achievement, mentorship, and leadership development for tomorrow’s leaders.
Across her professional and community work, Tamara brings together law, strategy, relationship-building, and service to turn ideas into meaningful opportunities and lasting impact.
