Artavia joins FLY with over 25 years of experience in the social sector with a diverse and impressive background in nonprofit management, fundraising, and leadership development. She has scaled and led numerous nonprofit organizations in the US and abroad, in the fields of community development, youth empowerment, and social justice, including At the Crossroads, Multiplying Good, Super Stars Literacy, Public Allies Chicago, and BeSpeak Spirit. She completed an Executive Fellowship with LeaderSpring Center, a prestigious program that supports social sector leaders in creating systems change. She also founded and launched two innovative apps, pocket.rev and Blaqmoji, that promote spiritual development and black culture + history, respectively.
Artavia holds a B.A. in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago, an M.Div. from Grace Christian Seminary, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from University of Illinois at Chicago. She is an ordained minister and an Emerge California trained political leader. She served as the Chair of the Hayward Community Service Commission, during which time she inspired and led the restorative justice movement for Russell City and currently serves as a Commissioner on the Alameda County Reparations Commission.
