Important Announcement: CEO Transition at FLY
Dear FLY Community,
In a significant development for our organization, we would like to share that Ali Knight, our esteemed President and CEO, will be transitioning out of FLY at the end of June to embark on a new chapter of his professional journey. Ali’s departure is bittersweet. We are grateful for his many years of leadership and service to FLY, but we are excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for him and for the nonprofit sector.
Reflecting on Ali’s Time at FLY
Ali has played a pivotal role in shaping FLY’s growth and impact over the past decade, particularly during his four-year tenure as President and CEO. Under his leadership, FLY has undergone transformative changes, expanding its reach and refining its mission to address systemic inequities faced by youth. Ali’s vision has not only amplified the voices of our community but also spurred tangible reforms at local and state levels.
A Message from Ali
I am incredibly grateful for my time here and the opportunity to help support thousands of young people in unlocking their potential. I am also thankful for the impact these young people had on me. Though I am transitioning out of my role as CEO, please know that I will forever be an ambassador of FLY’s mission and a champion of its work. As I step into my new role as CEO of the GreenLight Fund, I’m incredibly excited to bring the wonderful things I learned at FLY to a national scale.
Transitioning Leadership
During this transitional period, FLY will be led by Cassidy Higgins, our Chief Operating Officer, and June Wang, FLY’s Board Chair, who will serve as Interim Co-CEOs. With their wealth of experience and dedication, we are confident in their ability to guide FLY forward until a new CEO is selected and appointed.
Looking Ahead
The Board will be launching the search for its new leader in the coming weeks. FLY has retained the services of Edgility Consulting to lead the recruiting and search efforts for FLY’s next CEO.
As FLY embarks on this new chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for the unwavering support of our community. Your partnership has been instrumental in our journey thus far, and we invite you to continue standing with us as we navigate this transition and continue our mission of empowering Bay Area youth.
