FLY’s 2020 Annual Report

We are pleased to present the annual report for Fiscal Year 2019-2020! The past year has been unusual and challenging in many ways, yet because of your support we were able to serve more than 2,000 young people in 42 cities across the Bay Area and maintain our fundraising efforts. We took every challenge in stride as an opportunity to learn and grow, leading us to emerge even stronger than before.

This year, we are presenting our report in two different parts: the usual narrative report and a short summary of key data about our youth and programs from the year. The report summarizes FLY’s response to the pandemic and the changes in how we operate; gives the highlights of our young people’s progress during the year; talks about how FLY affected change in our systems and communities; introduces a new program, Career Pathways Navigators; and, of course, presents our summary of revenue and expenses. Also included are the perspectives of our youth about their experiences in FLY and in coping with the pandemic.

The data summary provides more information about key measures of success for our young people in FLY’s programs.  Access both documents here:

2020 Data Summary

FLY’s Evaluation & Learning Department, who worked tirelessly through the summer and fall to gather data on our programs, deserves special acknowledgement. Given how differently we had to operate due to the pandemic, this was no simple feat.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who partnered with us, funded our work, donated to support our youth and families, volunteered their time, marched alongside us, and offered love and encouragement so we could continue to fulfill our mission and vision this past year. This report is truly a testament to your commitment to our young people, our communities, and to justice!
