FLY’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Transforming ourselves, our services, and our systems

At FLY, we embrace a diversity of identities, beliefs, thoughts, and experiences. We commit to creating a strong organizational culture of equity and inclusion in order to better serve our youth and our communities. We also commit to identifying the root causes of inequity in the education and juvenile justice systems and to helping rebuild those systems to be more effective, humane, and just.

FLY has a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiative that enables us to re-examine our values as an organization and identify how to strengthen our commitment to DEI.

FLY supports youth of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities as they become educated and contributing members of our society. Within the context of our DEI work, we are focusing on needs seen within our staff and client populations:

  • Communities of color
  • LGBQ/GNCT-identified folks
  • Women and girls
  • People who experience disabilities
  • Undocumented people or people who have vulnerable immigration statuses

We have produced a detailed blueprint for our work going forward, which will involve all aspects of the agency’s operation including external partnerships.
